Following the tragic events (This is how you start anything about the Christchurch earthquake) in February we have decided to relocate the business and ourselves to Queenstown. Like everyone who was caught up in this we were seriously shaken and stirred by the violence of the quake and both our office and home were significantly worse for wear.
We are incredibly fortunate in that we can basically put our lives and our business into boxes and take it wherever we want so we have done just that. In reality this move is something that would have happened regardless of the Quake, just not quite as soon. With the Winter Games looming large in our vision we need to be down in the Southern Lakes for most of the winter.
We fully realise that we are privileged to be able to do this, we are seriously affected practically and business wise by this but to not be in Christchurch now and to not have to deal with the ongoing trauma of the aftershocks and damage makes us fortunate indeed. There are many thousands with jobs, businesses and lives who aren't able to get away so easily
We haven't by any means abandoned Christchurch but our opinion is that the city doesn't need us at the moment. We're optimistic about the future of the city but realistic that restoring our lives is a process of years. We have elected to move forward with the things we can move forward with and address the Christchurch situation when we can.
If you are in any doubt as to the difficulties faced by the people of Christchurch this page shows the day by day battles http://quake.crowe.co.nz/QuakeMap/DailyCircles/
